For the next few weeks I am dedicating my website and this webpage to
Philip Tomes

He is making a 625 mile coastal hike around Somerset,Devon, Cornwall and Dorset, from Minehead to Bournemouth Pier.

in aid of charity for the

Wiltshire Air Ambulance Appeal

[ BLOG  .. definition..Web LOG.. a journal kept on the Internet. This journal is often updated daily and contains all information that the person maintaining the BLOG (the blogger) wishes to share with the world. ]

For further information on this, the most difficult section of the coastal path:- goto http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/South_West_Coast_Path

Philip is devoting his personal free time over the next few weeks to make this multi-marathon rugged costal path walk on behalf of his chosen charity .

Sponsorship forms ( on this site - or see above navigation buttons ) &may be available from your local & Salisbury Library.

Philip is  Community Librarian at Salisbury and makes many brilliant, sometimes daily, observations en-route being able to express his thoughts and findings in an interesting and entertaining way which are then  posted into his "blog " for us all to read.

I am certain that if you, the reader of this page, are in a position to promote this effort, either by way of publicity or donations to his chosen charity, Philip would be overjoyed with your support.

How many of us would do both, give up our free time and make a physically punishing effort, to support a good cause.??
O.K. we would, and do, donate,( which means that we have given our working time for that money ), but mainly when the mood takes us. Or we make regular tax efficient donations, but to go out there, perform strenuous activities that bring in donations on a larger combined scale, sacrifice many personal hours, takes a special person.

You can make a reply/comment  on his blog to encourage him onwards and give support.

Watch his route online by using on-line mapping by Google http://www.googlemaps.com and select the " satellite " view.
Enter the town or village, he talks about, or in his itinerary, into the " search " box and zoom in or out with the " + " and " - " tools.
The coastal path is the thin wiggly white/black line on the land edge, being closest to the sea.

Philip  will finish his walk, probably at Bournemouth pier. ( expected date to be  Sat. 31st. May.)
Although this is not his home town, Bournemouth is where he was born and his close knit family reside.

Have you an interesting & entertaining article, humorous or serious, that you consider would expand on Philip as a person & his hike along the South West Coast Path ??
Please email it to David Dorrell on dsador@ddhp.co.uk

If you write it out , max of 100 words, I can add it to this page for you and give other visitors something interesting to dwell on .

Keep them legs pounding Philip !
